An exciting milestone for the Renmore Neighbourhood Park Project!
The Design Team, together with students from the University of Galway Masters in Planning and Development Programme and members of the Renmore Residents’ Association, hosted a site walkover for Galway City’s Elected Members and representatives of Galway City Council.
The walkover brought the proposed playground at Renmore to life, with the team setting out the footprint of the new playground illustrating the location of key features, including the new pedestrian crossings on Renmore Avenue and Rowan Avenue. The event not only showcased the playground proposal but also provided a unique learning experience for the planning students, giving them the opportunity to participate in a live community project.
A special thank you to Dr Therese Conway, Programme Director for the Masters in Planning and Development, for coordinating the students' involvement and supporting the setting out of the playground.
We would also like to thank Joe Cosgrove and the team at the Delight Café at Kingfisher Club Renmore, for their warm hospitality and for providing refreshments following the site visit.
The Chapter 6 Local Authority Development planning application (formerly known as a Part 8 application) for the playground will be lodged with Galway City Council at the end of October. This is an important step forward for the project, as the playground will be the first element of the wider Renmore Neighbourhood Park Project to enter the planning process. A separate application for the remaining elements of the project in Renmore will be lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála in Q1 2027.
We’re delighted to see the project progressing and look forward to delivering this important community facility for Renmore.
